For customers interested in a higher level of customization than our Select Series rods, we specialize in exacting, fully custom finishes that include hand-painted blanks, blanks painted to match boats or other equipment, custom logos, and custom wraps.

Thread and Blank Colors

A full custom build allows you to specify virtually any combination of thread colors, wrap pattern, and blank paint you want. Blanks can be painted either one or two colors of your choice with two-part marine paint or automotive paint, both of which are impervious to sun. Pearlescent and metal-flake finishes are also available. We partner with local artists to offer hand-painted logos and fish patterns and finish every rod with the best epoxy coatings available for a deep, beautiful sheen.
You can also choose one of our Signature Series color schemes. Color schemes with unpainted blanks are no additional charge. Those with single-color painted blanks or cork grips are $100. Those with two-color or hand-painted blanks are $200.

Grip Materials, Colors, and Patterns
All Gulfstream Customs rods include a hand-made EVA grip protected by a tough heat-shrink sleeve. These grips can be spec’d in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Popular colors include black, blue, gray, teal, purple, green, and red. Patterns include X-pattern, fish scale, and plain.
Additionally, most rods can be ordered with hand-shaped premium burl cork grips for an additional $100.
Other options include split grips (EVA or cork) available on snook and inshore rods and finger notches.
Reel Seats, Ferrules, Tops, and Gimbals
Gulfstream Customs is proud to use the best-of-the-best components from Winthrop Tackle, ALPS, Stuart, Fuji, and more. Opportunities for customization include:
Reel seats and gimbals — The ALPS aluminum reel seats and gimbals used on many of our rods are available in your choice of black, silver, or gunsmoke at no additional charge.
Ferrules — The ferrules used in our swordfish, deep drop, wahoo, and standup rods can be either black or silver to match your butt color.
Roller tops — Our swordfish, deep drop, wahoo, and standup rods are available with either a Winthrop Tackle aluminum roller top (black or silver) or, for an additional $200, a titanium Winthrop top.
